Core technologies

Ultra-low temperature.

Extreme cold, down to −60 °C at the core, where there is no margin for error.

Pioneers in ultra-low temperature

APINA is a pioneer in Ultra-Low Temperature freezing plants. As early as 1988 it revolutionised the market by designing and building ULT installations at −65 °C for freezing swordfish.

When the target temperature is at the limit, engineering makes the difference: cascade systems, insulated piping, evaporators and freezing tunnels to preserve product quality, structure and value.

Three generations of ULT

1st generation · 1988

Pioneers in ULT at −65 °C for freezing swordfish: M/V Siete de Julio, Radoche Primero, Mayi Seis, IBSA IV and V.

2nd generation · 2005

Tuna freezing plant at −70 °C with two tunnels and 200 t wells at −50/−55 °C aboard the M/V Alakrana.

3rd generation · 2014-2015

Automatic ultra-freezing system on three latest-generation tuna vessels: 2 tunnels at −70 °C and 6 wells of 600 t at −60 °C (Izaro, Jai Alai, Euskadi Alai).
