Tuna vessel retrofit.

You don't always need a new vessel

APINA modernises the refrigeration installation of active tuna and fishing vessels so they comply with the F-Gas regulation, gain efficiency and access the demanding European fresh market.

With more than 40 vessels equipped and 40 years of experience in the sector, we know how to work on an existing installation —in dry dock or in port— while minimising downtime.

Refrigerant change (F-Gas)

We replace obsolete refrigerants with natural refrigerants (ammonia NH₃, CO₂) or new-generation low-GWP freons, compliant with the European F-Gas regulation and the Kyoto protocols. We always start from a prior thermal study of the installation to ensure the change improves performance, not just legal compliance.

Modifications for certification

We adapt the installation to obtain the classifications required by the classification societies (Bureau Veritas, DNV-GL): approved components, safety logic and documentation. The result is a vessel that returns to the water certified and ready to sell in the most demanding markets.

Efficiency and optimised control

Stepped linearisation

Linearisation of stepped capacity variations to reduce consumption.

Dual control

Variable-speed drive + capacity variation to match cooling to real demand.

Updated E&C

PLC, SCADA and satellite remote management.

Well optimisation

Change from straight to oblique coils for secondary cooling, with maximum reliability and heat transfer.

On-board intervention, no surprises

We pre-assemble as much as possible in the factory to reduce time on board, work in confined spaces and deploy our technical service to any port in the world. A clear roadmap: study, proposal, execution and commissioning.
