One of the world's largest TIAC installations, deep in the Saudi desert.
A world reference in turbine inlet air cooling
For the PP9 power plant of the Saudi Electricity Company, deep in the desert some 54 km east of Riyadh, APINA designed a turbine inlet air cooling (TIAC) system with thermal energy storage in a stratified water tank.
The system cools the intake air of 40 GE-MS7001 EA turbines, recovering the power the extreme desert heat makes them lose. A world-reference installation in scale and reliability, with air condensation in an environment with no water available.
